Howard Household Polishes

It’s easy to keep items around the house looking good when you have the right product. Howard household polishes and cleaners quickly cleans and beautifies everyday items like ornamental copper, brass, silver, stainless steel and bronze. These products retard tarnish and provide a long-lasting shine, without strong acids or harsh abrasives.

Copper, Brass, Silver, & Stainless Steel

Metal Polish is easy to use and quickly removes tarnish and oxidation. Just wipe on, remove tarnish, then wipe off and buff to a shine. If decorative brass or copper has a clear coat or lacquer seal, it will need to be removed with paint remover to allow the copper/brass to be polished.

Directions:

  • Shake well before using.
  • Using a soft cloth, rub polish over entire surface.
  • Let set for 1 minute.
  • Without applying more, buff off with a clean, soft cloth.
  • Wash off any excess with warm, soapy water. Dry with a clean, soft cloth.
  • Note: Lacquer coating on some brass may have to be removed to allow polishing.
  • Precautions
  • Be sure surface to be polished is free of dust or dirt.
  • Always test on an inconspicuous spot first to see if metal is clear coated.
  • CAUTION: KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN

Butcher Block/Cutting Board Care & Restoration

Use Cutting Board Oil and Butcher Block Conditioner whenever the wood looks or feels dry by applying one coat of either product. On new or raw wood surfaces, like cutting boards and butcher block, make sure to “season” them first with Cutting Board Oil. To properly season new wood surfaces, apply at least 2 coats and let each coat soak in for at least an hour. For surfaces thicker than 1.5-inches apply 3-4 coats. Additional coats help ensure that the oil fully soaks into the wood. After Cutting Board Oil, maintain wood with Butcher Block Conditioner by applying one coat and let it stand for at least 20 minutes.

For countertops, let the conditioner soak overnight and in the morning, wipe away excess. The conditioner helps protect the wood by keeping the mineral oil in and the moisture out. Butcher blocks can be regularly oiled with Cutting Board Oil or Butcher Block Conditioner to keep them ready for use. These products can be used together for best results but can be used alone as well.
