Ombre Painting

Ombre is a decorative technique made by gently transitioning one paint color into another. This creates a multicolored effect as it traverses between hues. It’s similar to a beautiful sunset sky with layers of various colors that look spectacular together. Ombre is an inexpensive way to add visual interest to a door. The ombre effect is not complicated to create.

Once the paint colors are on the door, quickly blend them with a dry brush before the paints set up. This technique may not work well if your paints dry too quickly, making the blend more difficult. Ombre is somewhat forgiving and you can apply more paint to dried spots, so have fun with it. This ombre technique was done with Fine Paints of Europe. Ombre is also known as a polychrome technique which is a finish achieved by blending together a number of colors.
